Motion Dance Staff

 Owner and teacher - Holly Westbrook, started taking dance when she was 3 years old and has been teaching at Motion Dance Studio since she was 15.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a minor in Child and Family Development. 

Miss Holly loves sharing her passion for dance with students of all ages and levels and enjoys taking time to get to know each one of them.  She believes the dance studio should be a positive environment where everyone feels like friends and family. 

 Miss Holly also teaches Transitional Kindergarten at First Kids Preschool in Downtown Concord. 

 Office Manager - Melanie Westbrook, will greet you at the door with a smile and answer all your questions. 

She was a student at Goodman School of Dance and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University on North Carolina at Charlotte with a Masters in Early Childhood education. 

Mrs. Melanie is Miss Holly’s mom and the one who lovingly takes care of everyone at the dance studio and keeps us all organized. 

 Competition Coordinator and teacher - Megan McLaughlin, has been dancing her whole life. She has won first place honors and top overall dance competition awards for both solo and group dances as well as many pageant titles. 

Ms. Megan is a professional cheerleader for the Carolina Panthers and owns Selah Salon and Spa in Locust. 

She teaches a variety of classes and choreographs our competition team dances. She always pushes her students to challenge themselves to be their own personal best.
 

Lindsey Wilkinson is a former dancer with 18+ years of training, including dancing competitively and teaching.

Lindsey graduated from Appalachian State University with a BA in Communications. She got her group exercise certifications and was a fitness instructor for Zumba, Cardio Dance, and Strength classes at the Greater Charlotte YMCAs. She's continued her dance education by attending National conventions with world-renowned choreographers like Wade Robson and Mia Michaels. She is currently an Aquafit instructor at Sports Center Athletic Club in Concord.

Lindsey and her husband, Jay, have two daughters, Grace and Charlotte, who are students at Motion Dance Studio. Lindsey is thrilled to be back in the studio to share her love of dance with the Motion Dance Studio family. 

 Melanie Edwards is our adult tap class teacher. She comes with many years of dancing and teaching experience. We are honored to welcome her back to Motion Dance Studio. She has two children. Her daughter is one of our dance students. Melanie also works in Special Education for Cabarrus County schools. 

Tamsey Smith is an experienced fitness instructor, educator and presenter. She is passionate about helping people improve the quality of their lives through movement and healthy lifestyle education. Tamsey has a degree in elementary education, as well as multiple fitness licenses and certifications and was a Reebok Sponsored Athlete in 2020. She teaches Barre, Mat Pilates, cycling, HIIT and weightlifting group fitness classes at Sportscenter in Concord, NC and Gold’s Gym in Harrisburg and Concord, NC. Tamsey is married to Nathan Smith and has 3 children - Ella, Eoin and Eden, who has danced at Motion Dance Studio since 2015 - and a mini schnauzer named Sebastian.

 We are pleased and proud to present Sharlie Duncan. She will be a guest choreographer for our competition team this year. Sharlie will be teaching Broadway Tap. We are so excited! 

Sharlie was born in London, England and moved to the US in 2012. Sharlie won a scholarship at age 11 to study full time at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School and upon graduating continued her studies in Musical Theatre and Contemporary Dance. Sharlie has toured and performed extensively in Europe, Asia and the US in a diverse collection of shows. Credits include, Fame (European tour) The Royal Opera’s La Traviata (West End and Japan). Sharlie also toured with Spirit Of The Dance for many years performing a variety of their shows worldwide. Sharlie has danced with The Carolina Opry, Kinetic Works and SDCP in NC and continues to teach and choreograph here in the Carolinas.

  We are honored to have Tracy Faggart as one of our competition team’s choreographers this year! 

Tracy Faggart is an accomplished choreographer that has worked in many facets of the entertainment industry. 

She owned and operated a dance studio for over fifteen years, but for the past fourteen years, she was the Competition Director and Choreographer for Dance Productions in Charlotte, NC. Her students have won many national competitions across the United States and have gone on to be successful in other areas of dance. The list of her student’s accomplishments are impressive including dancers that are now with Alvin Ailey, Complexions, cruise lines, The Michael Jackson Show in Las Vegas, and on tour with artist such as Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Granda. She has also trained dancers that are with professional sports team, the Charlotte Hornet Honeybees and the Carolina Topcats. Tracy has also been a featured Choreographer for the Smokey Mountain Opry Christmas Spectacular Show as well as for the movie “Nightmare in Columbus County”.

Tracy resides in Concord, NC with her husband, Robby and their children.
